Cookies & browser storage
Tailhedge uses cookies and browser storage to keep sign-in secure, remember your storage choice and save the workspace features you request. Optional browser preferences stay off until you allow them.
Last updated: 25 September 2026. Choices apply separately to each Tailhedge website address and browser.
Essential cookies
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
tailhedge_ | Stores whether you rejected optional storage or allowed browser preferences. A separate tailhedge_analytics_choice cookie stores your analytics choice for 180 days. It does not contain an account identifier. | 180 days, or until you clear it or change your choice. |
__Host- | Keeps you signed in after you request sign-in. Protected from JavaScript with HttpOnly. | Up to 30 days with “Remember me”; otherwise a browser-session cookie with a server session lasting up to 12 hours. Signing out invalidates it. |
__Host- | Protects a Google sign-in or identity-verification flow that you initiate. | Up to 10 minutes; cleared when the callback completes. |
These first-party cookies use SameSite=Lax and are Secure on the public HTTPS site.
Workspace storage you request
Guest portfolios, watchlists, starred research, alerts, visibility choices and newsletter registration use local storage so the work you save remains available on this browser. This includes a guest workspace identifier (si-guest); trade and watchlist data (si-port, si-wlists, si-favwl, si-favth, si-fund-watchlist); alert settings and records (si-rules, si-fired, si-alert-*, si-alerts-seen-at); paper cash and orders (si-live-cash, si-live-orders, si-live-extra); and the newsletter management key (si-newsletter).
Local storage has no automatic expiry. It lasts until you delete the relevant saved data or clear site data in your browser. Recent corrections to the site’s text may be cached as si-textkill, and keys that help recover saved work after an update may also be kept. Rejecting optional storage does not delete your portfolio, cancel a newsletter registration or sign you out.
If you hide the notice that says live prices are not available, that choice is kept in session storage (tailhedge.) until you close the tab.
When signed in, supported workspace data and preferences are saved to your account on the server. Deliberately saved account settings are managed in Profile settings; the browser-preference choice below does not erase those account records.
Optional browser preferences
If you allow them, we store your theme and display preferences (si-theme, si-prefs), selected tabs and filters (si-pltab, si-flow, si-scope, si-atab, si-awin, si-favonly, si-ottab, si-rtab, si-fptab, si-hfwin), chart choices (si-live-range, si-live-ctype, si-live-sim) and homepage rotation (tailhedge-investor-quotes-v1, tailhedge.home-analysis.v1) and the country you chose on the Plans page (tailhedge.price-country.v1). Obsolete browser preference keys si-agent-visits and si-agent-open are covered by the same choice.
Before permission, or after rejection, these optional values are kept only in page memory. They are not read from or written to local or session storage. Allowing preferences saves them in local storage (or session storage where the feature uses it). Local values have no separate automatic expiry; session values end with the tab. If the 180-day choice expires, optional storage is disabled and its saved values are removed when you next use the site.
You can reject later using the persistent Cookie settings button. This removes the listed optional values from browser storage and stops future persistent writes. Your current page can keep using its in-memory choices until you reload.
Optional website analytics
When you allow analytics, Microsoft Clarity measures clicks, scrolling and time spent on parts of pages. It produces heatmaps and masked session recordings. Google Analytics, when enabled, measures page visits, engagement and navigation paths. These providers receive device, browser and connection information. We use the reports to improve Tailhedge. Analytics scripts do not load before you allow them. Browser preferences and analytics are separate choices.
We mask page text for Clarity and do not deliberately send account identifiers, form entries or portfolio values in analytics events. Clarity recording is disabled on private account and portfolio routes, contact and workspace pages, and URLs containing query parameters. After visiting one of these pages, recording stays off until a full page load. Google Analytics records private page categories only, without account or portfolio details. Advertising consent and Google signals are disabled.
You can withdraw consent in Cookie settings. We clear accessible first-party analytics cookies and reload the page to stop the scripts. Withdrawal does not erase data already processed by a provider. Microsoft and Google may process data outside your country; their privacy notices explain their practices and safeguards. Read the Microsoft Privacy Statement and Google Privacy Policy.
Clarity uses _clck and _clsk to connect visits and sessions. See its cookie list for provider-managed cookies. Google Analytics uses _ga and _ga_*; our configuration limits these to 180 days without automatic renewal. Provider reports have their own retention periods. Our analytics choice lasts 180 days.
External services
Analytics is a separate optional choice. No advertising consent is granted by these controls. Tailhedge loads Google Fonts and may load externally hosted images; those requests share connection information such as your IP address with their hosts. They are separate from the optional browser preferences above.
If you choose Google sign-in or open a Stripe checkout or billing page, you navigate to that provider, whose own cookies and privacy notices apply. See Google’s cookie information and Stripe’s cookie policy. Tailhedge’s hosting and security provider may also use cookies to protect requests; see Cloudflare’s cookie information.
Changing or clearing your choice
Use Cookie settings to allow or reject optional preferences at any time. Clearing site data in your browser removes this choice and may also remove guest work and sign you out. Export any guest portfolio or other saved work you want to keep before clearing it.
